Firebox Usb Audio Interface For Mac10/21/2021
USB Port Precautions 5S/PDIF IN/OUT (coaxial) For connection to a digital audio device. Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit or Lightning to USB Camera Adapter are required when connecting the UR28M with an iPad. Installation of the software was painless, after which all I had to do was select the Audiophile USB as the designated audio device within Logic Audio 6.0, the audio program I chose for testing.4USB2.0 (USB port) For connection to a computer or iPad. Thats not to say you dont get any software for the FireBox.Can't find this info in the manual so I thought I'd post here before I contact Support. For this test I installed the Audiophile USB on a Mac G3 iBook running Mac OS 10.2.6. Some may say that the lack of 'true' dedicated drivers could cause latency problems with Class Compliant audio interfaces, but as you will read below that is not a problem in the case of the FireBox. My Mac (running 10.3.7) automatically detects the FireBox and it is ready to go.With extra shielding?) that we're supposed to use for this? Are there settings on the Firebox, the II or in Logic that I need to change? To complicate things, I'm real busy right now preparing for an all-acoustic gig that won't involve the Axe and I won't have time to even turn it on (probably) for a week or two.I'm still within the 15 day trial period, but I'm gonna keep it.But I won't be able to troubleshoot this before the 15 days are up.In the meantime, it would be nice to know if this is a possible QC issue or if the Axe is simply not made to work this way.So if somebody out there who knows could chime in on this I'd appreciate it.Thanks for responding, but I have very little idea what you are saying. The Firebox does not require the creation of an Aggregate Device in Apple's Audio MIDI Setup if that's what you are suggesting. The Firebox, when it's hooked up, shows up in Audio MIDI Setup all by itself. This is governed by Apple's own Firewire audio drivers, as far as I know.If that's not what you're suggesting, then what is it that you are suggesting? What do you mean by "mirror the outputs"?Why would I want to "mirror the outputs" in Logic?Logic's ability to sense any audio peripherals attached to my Mac appears to be independent of anything going on in the Audio MIDI Setup app. What I've been doing thus far in Logic's Audio Preferences tab is to select the Axe II as my Input Device and the Firebox as my Output Device. And that all works fine as far as the audio is concerned, as far as I know. The *only* problem I'm having is the freezing of the Axe.If I have to set the Axe's I/O to Output 1 Left Only to fix this, then what do I do when I want to record stereo guitar tracks using the Axe's stereo processing?OK. If using the II's USB port for Audio In to a DAW, does the DAW also have to use the II as its Audio Out interface so that I have to hook up my studio's monitor speakers directly to the II?If so, that seems like a really impractical system to me.If not, then does anybody out there have any idea why my II might be freezing everytime I try to use the USB Out to record into Logic? Are there special USB cables (e.g. How you feel about firewire or usb Does anyone use or have any comments to make about the following: M-audio: fire410, or Fast Track Pro Tascam: US-122 Edirol: UA25 USB Audio Interface PreSonus: FireBOX, or Inspire 1394Your source for Computer Audio Interfaces including popular models like AudioBox Studio, Mobile Studio, PS-49, AudioBox USB, DIGIMAX DP88 and AudioBox 96.But I may be trying to do something that the II isn't supposed to be able to do.The problem is that after I set everything up inside Logic (using Software Monitoring) and arm a track, everything sounds fine but then the Axe's screen freezes and its controls don't work. But, I'm set up at the moment to use the Axe II only as the source in Logic for audio Input, not the Output also. For the Output I'm trying to use my Presonus Firebox interface.I've got Logic's Project Settings set for 48k and I've got the Firebox set to 48k also. So, is the II not designed to work this way?Does the II always have to be both the Input and the Output?I.e. My experiments with using the USB outs has been good, audio-wise, but problemattic function-wise.I want to get an external multi-channel audio interface to connect to my powerbook. A fine audio and video performance that inly need 8mbps internet speed.Maybe later. At any rate, I'm glad to have gotten this working w/o the Axe screen and controls freezing. Is all of this business represented *anywhere* in the Axe II's manual? It just froze on me again while I was writing this. When re-amping) I'm guessing it will be represented as Outputs 9 & 10 on the Track Output flip menu. The Firebox has 8 Outs, so the Axe should be 9 & 10.No time to investigate that now though. Apple calls it "Output" because, if used, it would be the Output from the computer software.)My first few attempts did not work because I saw no reason to include #3 above since my goal was to have all my audio out coming through the Firebox. But this only started working when I included #3 also.In Logic's Audio Prefs, I select both the Input and the Output to be governed by the Aggregate Device.I have to select Inputs 7 & 8 as my stereo pair for the Axe Track Inputs.Inputs 1 thru 6 are the Firebox's inputs.Took me a while to realize that I couldn't stay with Inputs 1 & 2 like I usually do when just using the Firebox.Track Inputs 9 & 10 are the unprocessed feed of the direct guitar through the Axe for re-amping purposes. It'd be nice if Apple would also tell me which device within the Aggregate Device the Input numbers belong to.For the Track's Output it seems that Logic still treats the Firebox's Outs 1 & 2 as the Stereo Out for Logic. If and when I ever want to use the Axe itself for the output (e.g. The Axe II "Output" (This is actually the Axe II's USB Input. Apple calls calls it "Input" because it's the Input into the computer software.)3. The Axe II "Input" (This is actually the 4 USB-based outs of the Axe II.
